Re: Would you prayerfully consider supporting this Myanmar Mission Trip, May 18 - June 1?

Dear Friend:

It is a joy and privilege to be a part of a church with an incredible vision and heart for the nations. Extending the Kingdom of God in the earth is part of our vision statement. As a congregation, we recognize the importance of giving away what God has deposited into our lives.

Our church expresses our commitment to world missions by praying, giving, and going. The whole earth belongs to the Lord, so we minister locally and globally. What a privilege we have to touch the nations here and abroad.

We also understand the importance of partnership. Not everyone can go across the earth. But everyone can express generosity and participate in missions by investing their intercessory prayers and financial gifts in missions efforts.

Pastor David Biakkung asked us to minister to 300 pastors during a Pastors’ Conference in Kalaymyo, Myanmar, scheduled for May 26-28, 2010. You may recall that Pastor David and his team plant churches in Myanmar, serve orphans, touch the poor, and evangelize in this Buddhist nation. Our World Mission Council prayed about this invitation and several other invitations. We concluded that God wanted to invest in these pastors in north central Myanmar.

For this trip, we are raising funds to meet three needs. First, we need to fund fully the cost of the Pastors’ Conference, which costs $6,000. Myanmar is one of the poorest nations in the earth. Our financial gifts cover food, transportation, and meeting facilities for these pastors. By supporting this conference, we are touching the poor, blessing church planters, missionaries, leaders, and pastors, and equipping a new army for taking the good news to people in need.

Second, your gifts will help my son, Michael, travel with me on this trip. Rather than taking a large team, it seemed best to take only one other person on this trip. I am looking forward to ministering with Michael. Our last joint mission trip was 14 years ago. Trip costs for Michael are around $3,000.

Third, whatever funds we receive above the needs of the conference and Michael’s expenses, we want to sow into a new Mission College which is being built by Pastor David and his ministry. This school will train church planters to take the gospel to the unreached people groups of Myanmar.

Would you prayerfully consider supporting this Myanmar Mission Trip? (1) The conference costs $6,000. (2) Michael needs to raise $3,000. (3) Finally, building the Mission College will cost $5,000.

We need intercessors, those who will pray for our team. And, we need financial partners, those who will invest funds in our efforts. Both prayer and finances are crucial for this trip.

There are three ways to support the trip financially.

  1. Give online here at www.calvaryhouston.com/OnlineGiving.htm. Indicate that your gift is for the Myanmar Trip and/or for Myanmar Michael.

  2. Print our either the Myanmar Support Card for the trip or for Michael and mail in your gift.

  3. Or, at one of our services, use a pink envelope, make out your check to Calvary Missions, mark it for the Myanmar Trip or for Myanmar Michael, and place it in the offering basket.

To be an intercessor for the trip, please write in the word intercessor on the note section of the online gift or on the pink envelope, check the appropriate box on the Myanmar Support Card, or send an email to Jeff McGee indicating that you want to be an intercessor for this trip.

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter. It is a blessing to belong to a Kingdom-minded and generous congregation.

If you have any questions, email Jeff or call at 281.550.4323 x 111.

In Christ’s love,

Jeff McGee
