Official name of the ministry: Small Group Ministry

To whom do you minister?: Members of and visitors to Calvary Community Church

Brief ministry philosophy:  Small Groups at Calvary are gift based and passion driven.  They are the primary place of care in our body.  Small groups are key ways in which we are laboring to fulfill our vision at Calvary of Intimacy (establishing people in intimacy with God), Community (expressing true Christian community), and Kingdom (extending the kingdom of God in the earth).

Small Groups are a place for building relationships, expressing gifts, touching the community, and ministering to one another. They provide opportunities for members to use giftings that the Lord has placed within them, whether they follow the Lord's stirrings to participate as a member, or to lead their own group. For leaders, this is a chance to give themselves away in service to the Lord.  They can express what the Lord is leading them in, and minister and fellowship with others who join with them in that area.  For those who join as members, this is a way to engage in deeper relationships, to be known by others, to have an enjoyable evening of fellowship, and to receive encouragement and help.

We greatly encourage all members of the church to enter into a Small Group.  As there are many giftings in the Body of Christ, so we have many expressions seen in our groups.  Banner Ministry and Earthen Vessels enter in to a unique pageantry and passion in worship.  Wailing Women express the cry of the Lord for the church, city, and nations.  GriefShare provides a loving, open place to walk with others ministering comfort and encouragement.  The Ladies Lunch Bunch enjoys a place of fellowship.  As you read the testimonies of Healing Touches, Cleansing Stream, the Prison Ministry, and LIFT Groups, we encourage you to prayerfully consider where the Lord would have you connect - both to enter into fellowship and the ministry of the Lord here at Calvary.  These ministries have blessed lives, and left lasting imprints through loving relationships and the touch of the Lord.

How is the servant team structured?:  Each of our groups has leaders and ministry partners.  Our groups may have different focus, some focusing on building relationships in the body (L.I.F.T. Groups, Women’s Lunch Bunch),  some ministering to needs or helping bring health and wholeness (Healing Touches, Cleansing Stream, GriefShare), some reach are outreach groups (Prison Ministry, Women’s Prison Ministry), and some focus on ministry before the Lord (Banner, Earthen Vessels, Intercession).

When do they meet?:  Our groups meet at various time.  You can visit our web site, www.calvaryhouston.com to see all the groups we have and what time they meet.
