What People Experience When They Visit Calvary

By Margaret Petry - June 2009

Editor’s note: In a recent conversation, Margaret Petry shared two reports she received from people who visited Calvary. Sometimes, we take for granted what we have. Sometimes, we fail to acknowledge the grace of the Lord’s presence among us. May this report from Margaret stir up gratitude and expectation in our hearts for the Lord’s presence among us.

A new believer, who recently started visiting Calvary, was amazed by the way she saw people worship God with such freedom. She had never seen so many people so unconcerned with how they appeared. She was touched by the openly expressive love and affection for God in our midst.

Another guest expressed that when she first came to Calvary, one of the things that stood out to her was the joy she saw and felt. This continued to draw her as she visited again. She had never seen that kind of joy in people. She also could feel the joy. (I believe she felt the presence of the Lord, though she did not recognize it to be Him). Another thing that blessed this guest was the way each time she visited, people greeted her, came up and introduced themselves, and asked about her. She felt very welcomed.

God has blessed us with joy in His presence and has given us such freedom in Him. May He continue to use us to touch others with His love, joy, and goodness as we come together to worship Him and love one another.
