Healing for a Finger

By Antoinette Tristan - April 2008

I was truly blessed Sunday, April 20 by my Lord Jesus Christ's tender mercies and grace. I was healed during praise and worship while I was praising the Lord. I found myself saying over and over "Lord, only say the word and I shall be healed." These words have been instilled in me from my Catholic background. Then, during the song with the words, “You are greater than a mountain, deeper than the ocean,” I felt warmth on my left hand. My first reaction was, “Are you healing me, Lord?” And then I quickly went on to claim his healing power, and began thanking him and praising him for healing me. Doubt tried to tell me no but faith told me “Yes He can, Yes He does” and to claim my healing.

I was afraid to open my eyes at moments, but kept praising the Lord and saying “Lord, I know you can straighten and heal my finger.” And when praise and worship was over I looked and yes, my finger was straightened, not all the way, but I can tell you today, five days later, my finger looks normal and has no pain.

For three weeks, my left index finger had been in continual pain. It actually felt like someone was pounding my finger with a hammer and the bones on that one finger were being crushed, giving me a constant, slow, throbbing pain. I would toss and turn throughout the night. I was not able to bend my finger or hold the steering wheel without pain. I was taking several over-the-counter pain medications but was only getting temporary short periods of relief.

I got so caught up in my world of daily life stresses with work and praying for peace at work, traffic, and self-control for myself and others on the road, and feeling guilty of not having enough time and energy to take of care duties for an elderly parent. I did not even think that I was worthy to ask the Lord for healing.

Thank you, Jesus, for loving me where I am and loving me for who I am and taking me out of the box of life’s challenges. Thank you for allowing this healing to be another testimony in my life that you do bless us even when we feel we are the unblessable. Thank you for my church and for your faithful servant, Michael Sullivant.
