“How lovely is Your dwelling place,
O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of
the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they are ever praising You.
Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would
rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of
the wicked.”
Psalm 84
“God desires to take us deeper into Himself. He wants to lead us
on in our love for Him who first loved us. He wants to cultivate
within us the adoration and admiration of which He is worthy. He
wants to reveal to each of us the blessed element of spiritual
fascination in true worship. He wants to teach us the wonder of
being filled with moral excitement in our worship, entranced with the
knowledge of who God is. He wants us to be astonished at the
inconceivable elevation and magnitude and splendor of Almighty God.”
(A.W. Tozer)
Our fast-paced world and time-starved culture constantly vie for our
attention and affection. In the chaos and confusion of our world,
our hearts long for home and uninterrupted communion with our Creator.
We were created to worship, to be entranced with the knowledge of
who God is! Worshipping the living God lifts our eyes and
our hearts to the unseen One who holds our lives together. Through
worship, we cry out to the holy Son of God to awaken our hearts to His
beauty. We run after the One who persistently pursues us. We
spend our energy and pour out our love in extravagant worship to our
worthy God.
Calvary
Community
Church
has a rich legacy in worship ministry and worship is a core value in the
life of our church. It is our desire, through worship, to
cultivate intimacy with God, live in Christian community, and extend the
Kingdom
of
God
in the earth.
At
Calvary
, we unite in worship, as a family, to pray for God’s love, mercy,
comfort, strength, healing, and glory to fill our lives, our church, our
city, and the earth. We value diverse expressions in our worship
experience. Two styles of worship offer our church family unique
opportunities to encounter God. Jubilation rejoices
and celebrates God’s creative Spirit within us and among us.
God’s glory and goodness are declared and experienced through music,
dance, and art. Our Jubilation worship time exalts
God’s majesty and enthrones Him on our praises and in our hearts.
Reflections is a time of reverencing and embracing the God
who is present with us. A quiet place of adoration, devotion, and
meditation awaits those who enter. Our Reflections
worship time is an opportunity to encounter God’s mystery and
experience His nearness.
Toni Ruffino
has served as
Calvary
’s worship leader four years. She is assisted by Jason Womack.
Toni and Jason share the responsibility of leading both Jubilation
and Reflections. The CCC Worship Team is comprised
of approximately fifty (50) volunteer musicians, vocalists, audio/visual
technicians, and dancers who faithfully serve the
Calvary
family. They are excellent musicians and artists who model and
inspire the heart of worship. We always welcome new additions
to our team and earnestly desire to make a place for all those who feel
called to be lead worshippers. The CCC Worship Team leads worship
at our main services, monthly prayer meetings, ministry leader meetings,
as well as taking part in community worship and prayer events. The
worship team has a genuine love for one another and the people of
Calvary
; their desire is to offer their finest and to bring lives of worship
and adoration, not only great music. We make it our sincere prayer
to lead with the heart of David: “And David shepherded them with
integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.” Psalm
78:72
As a team, we are very excited about Psalm Sunday. Psalm
Sunday is two hours of pure worship, held four times a year, on
Sunday nights. The first Psalm Sunday was July 15,
2007, led by Toni and her team, with approximately 250
Calvary
members and guests in attendance. It was a night of abandoned
worship and powerful praise. Psalm Sunday is a time
to unite us to one another, to draw us into the atmosphere of heaven,
and to draw the atmosphere of heaven into us. All of the members
of the worship team are encouraged and given an opportunity to
participate in our nights of worship.
Hope and pray with us…we are in the initial planning
stages for recording
Calvary
’s first live worship album! Please pray for us as we work
on this project.
We look forward with deep desire and hopeful expectation as we grow in
our worship and devotion to the Lord. May the heartbeat of
Calvary
continue to be the heart of worship, where there are no spectators and EVERYONE
is taken by the hand into the presence of God. The worship
ministry at
Calvary
Community
Church
is committed to excellence in musicianship and a passionate pursuit of
Jesus exhibited through a lifestyle of worship. We pray you
will encounter worship, in spirit and in truth, at
Calvary
…among our adults, our youth, and our children.
